Intra-School Sport (Level 1)

Key Stage 1 and 2 Sports Day 18th & 20th June 2018

On Monday 18th June and Wednesday 20th June each child took part in the annual sports day event for their respective key stages. Each class took part in a variety of different sporting challenges with each child competing to secure points for their house group. Both of the events were tightly contested with all four house groups winning at least one event outright but the children remained respectful and sporting throughout. The overall standings saw Warkworth house clinch the sports day shield this year, with just one point separating them from the runners up! Sophie O had the honour of being presented with the sports day shield in assembly. Congratulations to Warkworth house for finishing as overall sports day winners and congratulations to every child who took part with a smile on their face throughout each of the events. In addition, thank you to all of the parents who came to the school to support and cheer on their child. 

 

Year 6 Inter-class rounders competition 20/04/18
On Friday 20th April our year 6s took part in an inter class rounders competition. They are currently learning about striking and fielding in PE lessons so this has supported their development further. Each class was split into two teams which meant there were 6 teams competing against one another. A point was awarded for every rounder that was scored throughout the afternoon. The standings were as follows:
 
1st: Canberra 2= 21.5
2nd: Beijing 1= 20.5
3rd: Canberra 1= 18.5
4th: Wellington 1= 13.5
4th: Beijing 2= 13.5
5th: Wellington 2= 5.5
Year 6 Inter-house Handball competition 16/03/18
On Friday 16th March our year 6s took part in an inter house Handball competition. They are currently learning about invasion games in PE lessons so this has supported their development further. Each team competed against one another and for every goal that they scored they were awarded a point. The standings were as follows:
 
1st Place: Lindisfarne 32
2nd Place joint: Warkworth and Bamburgh 31
4th Place: Alnwick 30
 
Well done to all children who took part for showing positivity and resilience in very adverse weather conditions. 
Year 5 Inter-house Handball competition 09/03/18
On Friday 9th March our year 5s took part in an inter house Handball competition. They are currently learning about invasion games in PE lessons so this has supported their development further. Each team competed against one another and for every goal that they scored they were awarded a point. The standings were as follows:

Year 1 Inter-House races- 2/2/18
On Friday 2nd February, Madrid class took part in an inter house competition. All houses took part in a range of different races which involved them using a variety of fundamental skills including hopping, skipping, jumping, running, balancing and team cooperative tasks. The teams received 4 points for a win, 3 points for second, 2 points for third and 1 point for fourth in each race. The class are currently doing a multi skills topic in PE which has involved lots of work on hand-eye co-ordination, ball skills, locomotive movements, travelling, jumping and bounding so this competition was an excellent opportunity for the children to apply some of the skills they have developed within competitive situations. It was a very close contest with every team winning at least one race! The final scores were as follows:

2nd Place with 13 points was Bamburgh 
2nd Place with 12 points was Alnwick 
4th Place with 11 points was Lindisfarne

Year 5 Inter-House ball skills competition- 15/12/17
On Friday 15th December, Washington class took part in an inter house multi-skills competition. All houses took part in a range of different races which involved them using a variety of fundamental ball skills. The teams received 4 points for a win, 3 points for second, 2 points for third and 1 point for fourth in each race. The class are currently doing an invasion games topic in PE which has involved lots of work on hand-eye co-ordination, ball skills, control, dribbling and turning so this competition was an excellent opportunity for the children to apply some of the skills they have developed within competitive situations.The final scores were as follows:

2nd Place with 25 points was Lindisfarne
3rd Place with 21 points was Alnwick

On Friday 10th November, Nairobi class took part in an inter house multi skills competition. All houses took part in a range of different races which involved them using a variety of fundamental skills. The teams received 4 points for a win, 3 points for second, 2 points for third and 1 point for fourth in each race. The class are currently doing a multi skills topic in PE which has involved lots of work on hand-eye co-ordination, ball skills, locomotive movements, travelling, jumping and bounding so this competition was an excellent opportunity for the children to apply some of the skills they have developed within competitive situations. It was a very close contest with every team winning at least one race! The final scores were as follows:

Year 3 Inter-House bench ball competition- 06/10/17
On Friday 10th October Cairo class took part in an inter house bench ball competition. All houses played each other twice and received 3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. The class are currently doing an invasion games topic which has involved lots of work on hand-eye co-ordination and team co-operation so this competition was an excellent opportunity for the children to apply some of the skills they have developed within competitive situations. It was a very close contest with every team winning at least one match! The final scores were as follows:

Rihanna G had the honour of being presented with the sports day shield in assembly. Congratulations to Bamburgh house for finishing as overall sports day winners and congratulations to every child who took part with a smile on their face throughout each of the events. In addition, thank you to all of the parents who came to the school to support and cheer on their child. 

 

Year 4 Inter House Bench Ball Competition 03/04/17:
On Monday 3rd April Buenos Aires took part in an inter house bench ball competition where each house team played the other house team twice. The teams received 3 points for a win, 2 points for a close loss and 1 point for a clear loss. It was a very tightly contested competition with only 3 points separating the top three teams. 
 
1st Place with 15 points was Lindisfarne
2nd Place with 14 points was Warkworth 
3rd Place with 12 points was Alnwick
4th Place with 8 points was Bamburgh
 
Congratulations to Lindisfarne house for their being crowned the Y4 bench ball inter house champions for 2017!
Year 4 Inter House Bench Ball Competition 27/03/17:
On Monday 27th March Lima took part in an inter house bench ball competition where each house team played the other house team twice. The teams received 3 points for a win and 1 point for a loss. It was a very tightly contested competition with 2nd and 3rd place only being separated by a single point. The results were as follows:

2nd Place with 7 points was Warkworth 
3rd Place with 6 points was Bamburgh 
4th Place with 3 points was Lindisfarne
